Alexandra Whittingham (アレグザンドラ・ホイッティンガム)。イギリスの女性ギタリスト。1997年5月15日生まれ。
イギリス・マンチェスター出身。アマチュア・ギタリストだった父に憧れ、5歳でギターを手にする。地元の小学校でレッスンを受け、急速に上達し、11歳でマンチェスターのチェサム音楽院に入学。そこで様々なアンサンブルに参加し、ウィガン・ユース・ジャズ・オーケストラのメンバーとしてドイツやチェコ共和国でも演奏したが、教師が弾くスペインギター音楽を聴いてクラシックギターに傾倒した。ロンドンの王立音楽院を首席で卒業し、同校のティモシー・ギルソン・ギター賞を受賞、さらにリセエンティティの学位も取得しました。現在も同校の修士課程に在籍している。2013年には第1回エジンバラ・ギター・コンクールで優勝、2015年にはグレギノグ・ヤング・ギタリスト・オブ・ザ・イヤーに選ばれ、デンマークのオールボー国際ギター・コンクールでファイナリストになった。ロンドンのカウンティ・ホールやミルトンコート・コンサートホール、マンチェスターのブリッジウォーター・ホールなどでリサイタルを開催している。また、フランスのル・タン・デ・ギタール音楽祭をはじめ、ヨーロッパ大陸やアメリカの音楽祭に出演し、ドーセット室内オーケストラやゴートン・フィルハーモニック・オーケストラと協奏曲を演奏している。多くの弦楽四重奏団、ギターのデュオ、ジャズグループと共演している。デルフィアンレーベルと契約し、イギリスのCOVIDロックダウン中にデビューアルバムを構想し、2021年5月に『My European Journey』をリリースした。このアルバムでは、ヨーロッパ各地の19世紀の作品などを取り上げた。YouTubeで公開されている日本の「さくら」を演奏している動画はヨーロッパの雰囲気を感じさせる独特なアレンジで素晴らしい演奏です。ぜひ演奏をご覧ください。
