1980年代前半にイギリスのヨークシャー地方で生まれる。オックスフォード大学で学ぶ。2010年よりNaxosレーベルでレコーディング活動を開始。現代音楽に傾倒し、多くの現代作曲家が彼女のために曲を作曲し提供している。伝統的なクラシック音楽では、ロッシーニやヤナーチェクの歌曲で高い評価を受けている。
