Marin Alsop (マリン・オールソップ)。アメリカの女性指揮者。1954年2月27日生まれ。
プロの音楽家であったルース・E（コンデル）とキース・ラマー・アルソップの間にニューヨークで生まれた。マスターズ・スクールで教育を受け、ジュリアードのプレカレッジ部門でヴァイオリンを学んだ（1972年）。エール大学に入学したが、後にジュリアード音楽院に編入し、ヴァイオリンで学士号（1977）と修士号（1978）を取得した。ジュリアード音楽院在学中、ニューヨーク・フィルハーモニックやニューヨーク・シティ・バレエなどのオーケストラと共演した。1981年に弦楽アンサンブル「ストリング・フィーバー」を結成。1983年にはフィリップ・グラスの室内楽作品『フォトグラファー』のレコーディングに参加し、コンサートマスターを務めた。1984年、20世紀アメリカ音楽を専門とする50人編成のオーケストラ、コンコルディアを設立。1985年、トニー賞を受賞したミュージカル『ビッグ・リバー』のブロードウェイ・キャスト版オリジナル録音にヴァイオリンで参加。1989年、タングルウッド・ミュージック・センターで優秀学生指揮者としてクーセヴィツキー賞を受賞し、そこでヒーローであり将来の師となるレナード・バーンスタインに出会った。2021年6月18日にダムロッシュ公園で行われたジュリアード音楽院の第116回卒業式のスピーチを担当し、名誉音楽博士号を授与された。1992年から2016年まで、カブリヨ現代音楽祭の音楽監督、1993年から2005年まで、コロラド交響楽団の首席指揮者、音楽監督を務め、現在は同楽団の桂冠指揮者を務めている。また、1988年から1990年までヴァージニア州リッチモンドのリッチモンド交響楽団副指揮者、1989年から1996年までオレゴン州ユージーンのユージーン交響楽団音楽監督、1992年から1996年までオレゴン音楽祭の音楽監督、1994年から1996年までセントルイス交響楽団創造指揮者チェアを務めている。2005年9月20日、指揮者として初めてマッカーサー・フェローシップを受賞した。2007年9月、ボルティモア交響楽団交響楽団（BSO）の第12代音楽監督に就任し、2020/2021年のシーズンまで務めた。ボルティモア交響楽団では、「Webumentary Film Series」、iTunesの無料ポッドキャスト「Clueless About Classical」、「OrchKids」プログラムなど、ベネズエラの「El Sistema」プログラムを基にボルチモアの恵まれない子どもたちに向けた取り組みを行っている。2008年にアメリカ芸術科学アカデミーのフェローに選出された。2015年8月、恩師の一人であるグスタフ・マイヤーの後任としてジョンズ・ホプキンス大学ピーボディ研究所の大学院指揮科のディレクターに就任した。2002年から2008年までボーンマス交響楽団（Bournemouth SO）の首席指揮者を務め、同楽団史上初の女性首席指揮者となった。2003年にグラモフォン誌のアーティスト・オブ・ザ・イヤーに選ばれ、同シーズンにロイヤル・フィルハーモニー協会の指揮者賞を受賞。2007年11月7日にはボーンマス大学から名誉博士号（音楽）を授与された。2011年から2012年のシーズン、ロンドンのサウスバンク・センターでアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを務めた。2012年、アルソップはサンパウロ州立交響楽団（OSESP）の首席指揮者に就任し、OSESPの初の女性首席指揮者となった。2012年8月にブラジルのオーケストラとしては初のプロムス出演を含むヨーロッパツアーを行った。2013年10月にヨーロッパに戻り、ベルリン、ロンドン、パリ、ザルツブルク、ウィーンでコンサートを行い、2016年8月のプロムスにも参加した。2017年12月、OSESPはアルソップが2019年12月に音楽監督を退任し、その後、名誉指揮者の称号を得ることを発表した。2010年、2013年、2015年、2016年に、アルソップはエリザベート王妃コンクールでベルギー国立管弦楽団を指揮した。2014年、ウィーン放送交響楽団（ウィーンRSO）を初めて客演指揮した。2019年9月1日付ウィーンRSOの首席指揮者に就任した。2020年からはウィーン音楽・舞台芸術大学のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスを務めている。
