Pieter Wispelwey (ピーター・ウィスペルウェイ)。オランダの男性チェリスト。1962年9月25日生まれ。
1992年、オランダで最も有望な若手音楽家に贈られる政府の賞「オランダ音楽賞」をチェリストとして初めて受賞。バロックから現代までのチェロ作品の演奏と解釈において、世界を代表する演奏家の一人として評価されている。ハールレムに生まれ、サントポルトで育った。アムステルダムのディッキー・ボーケとアンナー・ビルスマにレッスンを受け、アメリカのポール・カッツとイギリスのウィリアム・プリースにも師事した。1990年、チャンネル・クラシックス・レコーズとの最初の録音であるバッハのチェロ組曲をリリースし、高い評価を得た。その後、1998年(チャンネル・クラシックス)と2012年(Evil Penguin Records)においてもチェロ組曲の録音を行っている。1990年代から2000年代にかけて、チャンネル・クラシックスより、フランツ・シューベルトのヴァイオリン・ソナタ、フレデリック・ショパンのワルツ、マズルカ、プレリュード、バッハのガンバ・ソナタなどの珍しいレパートリーを、彼独自の楽器編成でチェロの編曲として録音した。コンセルトヘボウ(アムステルダム)、ウィグモアホール(ロンドン)、シャトレ(パリ)、テアトロコロン(ブエノスアイレス)、オペラハウス(シドニー)など、世界各地でリサイタルを開催している。また、多くのオーケストラやアンサンブルと共演。リチャード・トネッティ指揮のオーストラリア室内管弦楽団とのシューマンおよびショスタコーヴィチのチェロ協奏曲のツアーおよびレコーディングが有名。また、ロッテルダム・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、BBC交響楽団、ロシア・ナショナル交響楽団、カメラータ・アカデミカ・ザルツブルク、マーラー室内管弦楽団、ブレーメン・ドイツ・カンマーフィルハーモニー管弦楽団などと共演し、オランダ・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、オランダ放送フィルハーモニー管弦楽団との録音も行っている。使用楽器は、1760年製のジョヴァンニ・バッティスタ・グァダニーニのチェロと、1710年製のロンバウツのバロック・チェロ。
