David Helfgott (デイヴィッド・ヘルフゴット)。オーストラリアの男性ピアニスト。1947年5月19日生まれ。
オーストラリアのメルボルンで、ポーランド系ユダヤ人の両親のもとに生まれる。ABC器楽・声楽コンクール(現在のABC若手演奏家コンクール)で決勝まで進出。英国王立音楽アカデミーでラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲第3番の演奏で最高協奏曲演奏のダンロイター賞(Dannreuther Prize)、及びマーマデューク・バートン賞(Marmaduke Barton Prize)を受賞。西オーストラリア・オペラ会社でリハーサルピアニストとして働いた。ピアニストの形成期と精神病との闘いを扱った1996年の映画「シャイン」の中に登場するピアニストのモデルとなったことで知られる。ロマン派音楽、主にムソルグスキー、ラフマニノフ、ショパン、リスト、シューマン、リムスキーコルサコフの作品の演奏を好んだ。しかし、彼の録音と演奏、特にラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲第3番の録音と演奏では、「淡く、不安定で、一貫性がない」という批判にさらさあれることもあった。ステージでは、ヘルフゴットは彼の変わったプラットフォームマナーで知られ、1997年に評論家のアンソニー・トマジーニは、ヘルフゴットが「ホールをじっと見つめ、うめき声、つぶやきのようなノンストップで解説をしている」と表現している。
