Gabriela Montero (ガブリエラ・モンテーロ)。ベネズエラの女性ピアニスト。1970年5月10日生まれ。
アメリカ人の母とベネズエラ人の父の間にベネズエラのカラカスで生まれた。4歳からカラカス在住のアルゼンチン人ピアニスト、リル・ティエンポにピアノを習い始め、5歳で初舞台を踏んだ。8歳のとき、カラカスの国立劇場で、ホセ・アントニオ・アブレウ指揮、ベネズエラ国立青少年交響楽団とハイドン・ニ長調ピアノ協奏曲全曲を演奏して協奏曲デビューを果たした。9歳のとき、ベネズエラ政府から奨学金を得て米国に留学。1990年から1993年まで、ロンドンの王立音楽院でヘイミッシュ・ミルンに師事。即興演奏を得意とし、リサイタルでも協奏曲の演奏後でも、聴衆に呼び掛けたり、オーケストラから提案したりしもらいメロディーをもらい、そのメロディーをもとに即興演奏を披露している。マルタ・アルゲリッチからもモンテーロの即興演奏は高く評価されている。ニューヨーク・フィルハーモニックと共演し、ハリウッド・ボウルでロリン・マゼール、ロサンゼルス・フィル、ロイヤル・フェスティバル・ホールでフィルハーモニア管、デ・ドーレンでロッテルダム・フィル、ベルゲン・フェスティバルでNDRハノーファーとデビューを果たした。リサイタルでは、エディンバラ音楽祭、ウィーン・コンツェルトハウス、ルール・クラヴィア音楽祭、ケルナー・フィル、デュッセルドルフ・トンハレ、ベルリン・コンツェルトハウス、フランクフルト・アルテセンダーザール、ワシントンDCのケネディセンター、毎年招待されているルガーノの「プロジェト・マルタ・アルゲリッチ」フェスティバルなどで活躍している。2009年1月20日、オバマ大統領の就任式で、イツァーク・パールマン、ヨーヨー・マ、アンソニー・マッギルとともにジョン・ウィリアムズの「Air and Simple Gifts」を演奏した。フランスのチェリスト、ゴーティエ・カプソンと長年にわたりデュオを組んでおり、2009年ザルツブルク音楽祭に出演したほか、2009年4月にミュンヘン、ボン、ハンブルク、ドルトムント、ハイデルベルク、5月にパリ・シャトレ劇場でドイツ・ツアーを行っている。ラフマニノフ、ショパン、リストの曲を収録したアルバム、即興演奏を収録したアルバムでレコーディングデビュー。バッハのテーマによる即興演奏を収録したCD「バッハ・アンド・ビヨンド」は、チャートの上位にランクインした。2008年2月にリリースした即興演奏のCD「バロック」は、BBCミュージック・マガジンとクラシックFMで5つ星を獲得した。モンテロの「バッハとその後」は、2006年にフランスの雑誌「ル・モンド・ド・ラ・ミュージック」から「Choc de la musique de l'annee」賞を授与された。また、ミュンヘンのECHOプレミア・アワードで年間鍵盤楽器賞を受賞している。2007年、CD「Bach and Beyond」でエコー賞よりKlassik-ohne-Grenzen Awardを授与された。2009年、アルバム『バロック』がグラミー賞の2部門（ベスト・クロスオーバー部門、ベスト・プロデューサー部門）にノミネートされた。2015年にリリーされたアルバム（ピアノとオーケストラのための自作曲「Ex Patria」、ラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲第2番、3つのフリースタイル即興を収録）は、2015年ラテングラミー賞のベストクラシックアルバムを受賞した。
