Alfred Brendel (アルフレッド・ブレンデル)。オーストリアの男性ピアニスト。1931年1月5日生まれ。2025年6月17日没。
現在のチェコ共和国のロウチュナー・ナト・デスノウ生まれ。6歳の時クロアチアのザグレブに移り、ピアノを始めた。オーストリアのグラーツにあるグラーツ音楽院でルドヴィカ・フォン・カーンにピアノ、アルトゥール・ミッチェルに作曲を師事した。第2次世界大戦後、作曲とピアノを続けたが、16歳以降は正規のピアノ教育は受けず、エドウィン・フィッシャーやエドゥアルト・シュトイアーマンのマスタークラスを受講した程度で、ほとんど自学自習でピアノを学んでいた。17歳の時グラーツで初めてピアノのリサイタルを開催。1949年にフェルッチョ・ブゾーニ国際ピアノコンクールで第4位を受賞。数多くの録音をリリースしており、プロコフィエフのピアノ協奏曲第5番を皮切りに、1952年にフランツリストのヴァイナハツバウムを世界初録音。ベートーヴェンのピアノソナタ全曲録音、モーツァルトのピアノ協奏曲全曲録音、他にもリスト、ブラームス、ロベルト・シューマン、シューベルト、ショパンの作品の録音をリリースしている。ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、南アメリカ、日本、オーストラリアなど世界各地で演奏ツアーを行った。ウィーン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、アメリカの著名なオーケストラと数多く共演。ピアニストとしてはエミール・フォン・ザウアー、ヴィルヘルム・バックハウスに続いて3人目のウィーン・フィルハーモニックの名誉会員として表彰されている。
