Frederic Chiu (フレデリック・チュウ)。アメリカの男性ピアニスト。1964年10月20日生まれ。
ニューヨーク州イサカで生まれ。インディアナ州インディアナポリスのバトラー大学でウィリアム・エルツロスに、インディアナ大学でカレン・ショーに音楽を学び、その後ニューヨークのジュリアード音楽院でアビー・サイモンに師事。他にもアウベ・ツェルコ(Aube Tzerko)、マーヴィン・ウォルフサール(Marvin Wolfthal)、マリアン・リビツキー(Marian Rybicki)。1984年にコシチュシュコ財団ショパンピアノコンクールや音楽教師全国協会コンクールなど、数多くのピアノコンクールで優勝。1985年にアメリカピアニスト協会フェローシップ(旧ベートーヴェン財団)を受賞。1994年にジュリアード音楽院かからペチェク賞を受賞し、リンカーンセンターのアリス・タリー・ホールでリサイタルを開いた。1996年にエイブリー・フィッシャー・キャリア・グラントを授与された。フランスに移り、12年間暮らした。録音では、プロコフィエフのソロピアノ作品を全曲録音を行った。他にもメンデルスゾーン、ロッシーニ、ショパン、リスト、グリーグ、ブラームス、ラヴェル、デコー、シェーンベルク、シューベルト、プロコフィエフ、サン=サーンスの録音を行っている。ベートーベン交響曲第5番のソロピアノのためのリスト編曲を録音。2015年にグルジエフ/デハルトマンによる中東風の作品と西洋風の作品のセレクションで構成された「Distant Voices：Claude Debussy & Gao Ping」、 2016年にアルバム「Hymnsand Dervishes」をリリース。2019年には、ヴァイオリニストのウィリアム・ハーベイとピアノとヴァイオリンのためシューベルトのファンタジーを含む室内楽の録音をリリース。同年フランツ・リスト編曲の2つのベートーヴェンの交響曲第5番と第7番の録音をリリース。これまでにBBCコンサート・オーケストラ、BBCスコティッシュ交響楽団、インディアナポリス交響楽団、カンザスシティ交響楽団、デイトン・フィルハーモニー、ハートフォード交響楽団、フランスのブルターニュ管弦楽団、中国国家交響楽団、台北国家交響楽団と共演。ヨーロッパ、アジア、北アフリカ、南アメリカ、北アメリカの多くの主要都市でリサイタルを行っている。室内楽では、長年の友人であるヴァイオリニストのジョシュア・ベルと頻繁に共演。チェリストのゲイリー・ホフマン、ヴァイオリニストのピエール・アモヤル、クラリネット奏者のデビッド・クラカウアーらとも共演。ジュリアード音楽院、ニューイングランド音楽院、バンフ、インディアナ大学のジェイコブ音楽学校など、世界中の主要な大学や音楽学校でマスタークラスを開講している。
