Umi Garrett (宇見ギャレット)

Umi Garrett (宇見ギャレット)。アメリカの女性ピアニスト。2000年8月15日生まれ。
4歳からピアノを始めた。秋本よしえ、秋元いとえの元でピアノを学ぶ。2歳半のときにヴァイオリンも学んだ。第13回大阪国際音楽コンクールのAge-E2で優勝。バーモント州のキリングトン音楽祭に最年少で招待された。2012年にはシドニー国際ピアノマスタークラス・フェスティバルに参加。2018年9月より、ジュリアード・コロンビアデュアルプログラムの学生として、マッティ・ラエカリオとフン・クアン・チェンに師事。2009年12月にカリフォルニア州パームデザートでデザート交響楽団とモーツァルトのピアノ協奏曲第23番イ長調でオーケストラ・デビューを果たした。2010年、コネチカット州ハートフォードで行われた第2回ショパン国際コンクールに出場し、その後カーネギーホールに招待された。2010年にはNPRのFrom The Topが主催するキース・ロックハートとボストン・ポップスに出演。同年、中国の武漢で9歳で武漢交響楽団と共演して中国デビュー。2011年、アッシジ・ネル・モンド音楽祭に出演。これまでにフロリダのシャーロット交響楽団、マサチューセッツのセイヤー交響楽団、カリフォルニアのサドルバック交響楽団、インディアナポリスのインディアナ室内オーケストラ、コロンビアのミズーリ交響楽団と共演している。2012年3月、ラトビアで開催された国際ピアノ・スター・フェスティバルに、同フェスティバル史上最年少で出演。2011年の東日本大震災で津波の被害を受けた東北地方の人々を訪問するために、「絆コンサートシリーズ」という特別コンサートシリーズを創設し、2013年の3月に東北で4回のコンサートを開いた。2015年、日米が締結した平和条約70周年を記念して企画された公演ショーに招かれ、広島交響楽団と共演。2020年3月、フロリダ州マイアミで行われたアメリカ国内ショパンピアノコンクールで、同じアメリカのピアニストでジュリアードの同僚チェルシー・グォとともにエクセオを受賞し第4位を受賞。
