Kirill Gerstein (キリル・ゲルシュタイン)

Kirill Gerstein (キリル・ゲルシュタイン)。アメリカの男性ピアニスト。1979年10月23日生まれ。
旧ソ連のヴォロネジでロシア系ユダヤ人の家庭に生まれ、アメリカ国籍でベルリンを拠点に活動している。2歳でピアノを始めた。12歳のとき、ポーランドのゴルズフで開催された国際バッハコンクールで初優勝を果たした。クラシック・ピアノを学んだが、両親のレコード・コレクションを聴いてジャズの演奏も覚えた。14歳のとき、サンクトペテルブルクのフェスティバルでジャズビブラフォン奏者のゲイリー・バートンと出会い、ボストンのバークリー音楽院でジャズピアノを学ぶための全額奨学金のオファーを受け、同校へ史上最年少で入学した。その後、ニューヨークのマンハッタン音楽院でソロモン・ミコフスキーに師事し、4年間で学士号と修士号を取得した。マドリッドのソフィア王妃音楽院でドミトリー・バシュキーロフに、ブダペストでフェレンツ・ラドスに師事した。ソロや協奏曲でヨーロッパ、アメリカ、中国、オーストラリアなど国際的に活躍している。2021～22年シーズンでは、アラン・ギルバート指揮ロイヤル・コンセルトヘボウおよびNDRエルプフィルハーモニーとのクルターク、ベートーヴェン、シュトラウス、ラフマニノフ、カメラータ・ザルツブルクとアンドリュー・マンゼとのモーツァルト、シカゴ交響楽団とカリーナ・カネラキスとのシューマン、バイエルン放送交響楽団とフランソワ=グザビエ・ロートとのシェーンベルクの演奏を行っている。チャイコフスキーのピアノ協奏曲第1番は読売日本交響楽団とセバスチャン・ヴァイグル、ラヴェルのピアノ協奏曲はバーミンガム市交響楽団、ブラームスのピアノ協奏曲第1番と第2番はヘルシンキ・フィル、そしてベートーベンのピアノ協奏曲はグランドラピッズ交響楽団と全5曲の演奏を行っている。リサイタルでは、ロンドンのウィグモアホール、ギャリック・オルソンとのアメリカツアー、ブダペストのリスト音楽院、ケルナー・フィルハーモニーで親交のあるハーゲン弦楽四重奏団と共演している。ドイツ・グラモフォンからアデスのピアノ協奏曲が世界初演され、myrios classicsからアデスのピアノ作品のコンピレーションがリリースされた。この2枚のディスクは、2021年国際クラシック音楽賞、2020年グラモフォン賞、グラミー賞の3部門にノミネートされるなど、数々の栄誉に輝いている。
