Ida Kavafian (アイダ・カヴァフィアン)
ヴァイオリニスト
Ida Kavafian (アイダ・カヴァフィアン)。トルコの女性ヴァイオリニスト。1952年10月29日生まれ。
アルメニア人の両親のもとにトルコで生まれる。姉のアニ・カヴァフィアンもヴァイオリニスト。1956年にアメリカへ移住し、6歳からデトロイトでヴァイオリンを始める。1969年から1975年までジュリアード音楽院でオスカー・シュムスキー、イヴァン・ガラミアンにヴァイオリンを師事。1973年にリスボンで開催されたヴィアナ・ダ・モッタ国際ヴァイオリンコンクールで優勝して注目を集める。1978年にカーネギーホールでデビュー。2019年現在、カーティス音楽院、ジュリアード音楽院で教鞭をとっている。 モーツァルト、ベートーヴェン、メンデルスゾーンなどのロマン派の作品はもちろんのこと、20世紀の作曲家(ルース・クロフォード＝シーガー、チャールズ・ウォリネン 、武満徹)の作品の演奏を行っている。特に武満徹はアイダ・カヴァフィアンのためにヴァイオリン協奏曲を作曲している。
