Nigel Kennedy (ナイジェル・ケネディ)。イギリスの男性ヴァイオリニスト。1956年12月28日生まれ。
祖父はBBC交響楽団の首席チェロ奏者であるラウリ・ケネディ、祖母はピアニストのドロシー・ケネディ。イギリスのブライトンで生まれた。10歳の頃、継父のジャズレコードを聞いてファッツ・ウォーラーの曲をピアノで選んでいた。7歳でユーディ・メニューイン音楽院に入学。その後、ニューヨークのジュリアード音楽院でドロシー・ディレイに師事。16歳のとき、ジャズ・ヴァイオリニストの第一人者であるステファン・グラッペリに招かれ、ニューヨークのカーネギーホールに出演した。1984年、エルガーのヴァイオリン協奏曲でレコーディング・デビュー。その後、1989年にイギリス室内管弦楽団と録音したヴィヴァルディの『四季』は200万枚以上のセールスを記録し、クラシック音楽史上最も売れた録音のひとつとなった。アルバムは1年以上にわたってイギリスのクラシック・チャートのトップに君臨し、300万枚以上のセールスを記録した。1997年には、BRITアワードで「Outstanding Contribution to British Music」賞を受賞し、2001年には「Male Artist of the Year」賞を受賞した。1993年のアルバム『Stone Free』にジミ・ヘンドリックスの「Fire」のカバーを録音している。1999年、ソニー・クラシカルから、ヘンドリックスの曲をベースにした即興演奏を収録した『The Kennedy Experience』をリリースした。2000年には『Riders on the Storm』をレコーディング。同年「ストレンジ・デイズ」、「LAウーマン」、「ジ・エンド」、「ライダース・オン・ザ・ストーム」などのドアーズの曲をヴァイオリンでオーケストラ演奏した「ドアーズ・コンチェルト」をリリース。イギリスのシンガーソングライター、ケイト・ブッシュの「Experiment IV」などの楽曲にも参加しており、サラ・ブライトマンの2003年のアルバム「Harem」の2曲にも参加。2008年にプロムスに21年ぶりに復帰し、ナイジェル・ケネディ・クインテットとエルガーのヴァイオリン協奏曲を深夜のプロムスで演奏した。ヴィオラも演奏し、サー・ウィリアム・ウォルトンのヴィオラ協奏曲を録音している。1991年、バース大学から名誉学位(文学博士)を授与された。
