Ning Kam (ニン・カム)
ヴァイオリニスト
Ning Kam (ニン・カム)。イギリスの女性ヴァイオリニスト。1975年10月7日生まれ。
6歳よりヴァイオリンを始め、シンガポールのメソジスト女子校で幼少期の教育を受けた。1987年、リー財団とショー財団の奨学金を得て、ユーディ・メニューイン・スクールに入学。8歳のときにイギリスの人気テレビ番組「ブルーピーター」に出演し、ユーディ・メニューインスクールの生徒が出演するコーナーでパガニーニの「カプリースNo.5」を演奏したことがある。11歳でメニューイン自身によるレッスンやマスタークラスを受講し、室内楽やオーケストラとの共演を果たした。ロンドンのレン・オーケストラとロイヤル・フェスティバル・ホールで演奏し、シンガポールのヴィクトリア・コンサート・ホールではデビュー公演を行った。1993年、カーティス音楽院に入学し、ハイメ・ラレードとユミ・スコットに師事し学士号を取得した。2001年にはクリーブランド音楽院を卒業し、ドナルド・ワイラースタインの指導のもと、音楽修士号とアーティスト・ディプロマを取得した。1990年、英国王立在外連盟音楽コンクールで優秀若手アーティスト賞を受賞し、1991年には英国フォークストーン・メニューイン国際ヴァイオリン・コンクールのジュニア部門で第1位を獲得した。2000年にはナショナル・アーツ・カウンシルからヤング・アーティスト賞を受賞。2001年のエリザベート王妃音楽コンクールで第2位を受賞。その後、ロイヤル・リバプール・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ベルギー国立管弦楽団、シンガポール交響楽団、シティ・オブ・ロンドン・シンフォニア、ルクセンブルグ・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、マレーシア・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ヘルシンキ・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、トロント交響楽団など、多くの世界的なオーケストラと共演している。1991年にスイスで行われたメニューイン指揮のスヴィツェラ・イタリアーナ管弦楽団との共演では、メンデルスゾーンのヴァイオリン協奏曲を見事に演奏した。
