Itzhak Perlman (イツァーク・パールマン)。イスラエルの男性ヴァイオリニスト。1945年8月31日生まれ。
20世紀後半から21世紀前半を代表する世界的なヴァイオリニスト。テルアビブで生まれた。両親はポーランド出身のユダヤ人で、1930年代半ばに英国委任統治下のパレスチナ（現イスラエル）に移住した。パールマンは4歳の時にポリオに罹患し、それ以来、足に装具や松葉杖を使って歩き、座った状態でヴァイオリンを演奏している。2018年現在、移動には松葉杖や電動スクーター「アミーゴ」を使用している。ラジオでクラシック音楽の演奏を聴いたことがきっかけでヴァイオリンに興味を持った。シュラミット音楽院とテルアビブの音楽アカデミー（現在のブーフマン・メータ音楽学校）でリヴカ・ゴールドガートに師事し、10歳で最初のリサイタルを開いた。13歳で渡米し、ジュリアード音楽院でヴァイオリン教師のイヴァン・ガラミアンと助手のドロシー・ディレイに師事した。1963年にカーネギーホールでデビューし、1964年にはレヴェントリット・コンペティションで優勝後すぐに、広くツアーを行うようになった。レコーディングや演奏活動に加えて、「The Tonight Show」や「Sesame Street」などのテレビ番組への出演や、ホワイトハウスの行事での演奏なども続けている。1986年7月5日、ニューヨーク・フィルハーモニックが自由の女神の100周年を記念して行ったトリビュートコンサートに出演し、その模様はABCで生中継された。1987年、イスラエル・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団（IPO）のワルシャワ、ブダペストなど東欧諸国でのコンサートに参加した。1990年春にはIPOの初のソ連公演に同行し、モスクワとレニングラード、1994年には中国とインドで公演を行った。2015年、ニューヨークのWQXRが制作した「The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center」というクラシック音楽番組で、1989年のビリー・ジョエルの曲「The Downeaster Alexa」で、パールマンがクレジットされていないヴァイオリン・ソロを演奏していた。主にソロ活動を行っているが、1990年12月にレニングラードで行われたチャイコフスキー生誕150周年記念式典では、ヨーヨー・マ、ピンカス・ズーカーマン、ジェシー・ノーマン、ウラディーミル・アシュケナージ、アイザック・スターン、ユーリ・テミルカーノフなど多くの音楽家と共演している。クラシック音楽の演奏や録音のほかに、ジャズも演奏しており、ジャズピアニストのオスカー・ピーターソンとのアルバムや、クレズマーも演奏している。映画音楽のソリストとしても活躍しており、1993年の映画「シンドラーのリスト」のテーマ（ジョン・ウィリアムズ作曲）では、アカデミー賞の作曲賞を受賞。最近では、2005年に公開された映画「Memoirs of a Geisha」で、チェロ奏者のヨーヨー・マとともにヴァイオリンのソリストを務めた。数多くの録音を行っており、小澤征爾、ダニエル・バレンボイム、ジェイムズ・レヴァイン、ズービン・メータ、ジョン・ネルソンら世界を代表する指揮者と共演し、ベルク、ストラヴィンスキー、エルガー、ラロ、ベルリオーズ、モーツァルト、サン=サーンス、ヴィエニャフスキ、サラサーテ、ショーソン、メンデルスゾーン、ブラームス、チャイコフスキーの作品を収録したアルバムがリリースされている。1975年よりブルックリン大学音楽院の教員を務め、2003年には、師匠であるドロシー・ディレイの後任として、ジュリアード音楽院のドロシー・リチャード・スターリング財団ヴァイオリン科のチェアに就任。1994年に、ニューヨーク州ロングアイランドで、妻であるトビー・パールマンとスキ・サンドラーとともにパールマン・ミュージック・プログラムを設立。マンツーマンで生徒を指導している。12歳から18歳までの優れた弦楽器奏者のためのサマーキャンプとして始まり、その後、1年間のプログラムに拡大している。2000年代に入り、パールマンは指揮活動を始め、2002年から2004年にかけて、セントルイス交響楽団のミュージック・アドバイザーを務めた。2007年11月、ウェストチェスター・フィルハーモニックの芸術監督兼首席指揮者への就任が発表された。2008年10月11日に行われた初のコンサートでは、ピアニストのレオン・フライシャーとともに皇帝協奏曲を演奏し、全曲ベートーヴェンのプログラムを披露した。
